Activities

  • Qs. What should we wear for the rafting trips?
    Ans. Quick-dry material – nylon or light cotton shorts and t-shirts would be best. Also, swimming costumes / trunks, towel, flip-flops/ or sandals with straps would be ideal. You can carry your day pack with all your personal items (including a set of dry clothes and a light water proof jacket and pants). A lot of sun block (SPF 70 +) is highly recommended.
  • Qs. Can we carry cameras and mobile phones for the rafting trip?
    Ans. Please get waterproof covers and water proof bags for your equipment which should be strapped on, as we will not be responsible for the same.
  • Qs. Is the rafting stretch dangerous? What is the grade of difficulty?
    Ans. No, the rafting stretch is fairly gentle. The rafting is graded in the grade system of 1-5, 1 being easy and 5 being very difficult. The stretch that we have chosen varies from a grade of 1 to 2. Your rafting instructor will give you safety instructions before you begin.
  • Qs. Will the guides advise certain clients not to raft?
    Ans. Yes, under no circumstances can somebody raft under the influence of drugs / alcohol. Also, a person with a recent injury eg. a broken arm/ leg, slipped disc or if pregnant may be advised to avoid this activity. Children above 10 years only will be allowed on the raft.
  • Qs. What should we wear for the cycling trips?
    Ans. Quick-dry material or cotton shorts and t-shirts.. A material that is breathable, like lycra clothing, would be ideal. Trainers with socks are advisable. Please also carry your day packs with your water bottle, sun block (SP 70 plus), sunglasses (with strap), and any other personal items (such as your own personal medications). It is advisable to carry light water proof jacket and pants as the weather can sometimes change drastically. A warm jacket is required in the month of September as the weather is much colder.
  • Qs. What bikes will you provide us with for the cycling trips?
    Ans. Proper mountain bikes with gears will be provided for the cycling trips. Helmets are compulsory for everyone.We recommend you carry your own helmets, but if you wish, the same can be locally arranged.
  • Qs. What should we wear for the hiking trips?
    Ans. A very light cotton t-shirt, and a light trousers are recommended. Shorts are appropriate too. Sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support if opting for the day hike and comfortable walking shoes / trainers if going on a shorter walk around the village. You need to carry your day packs, water bottles, medication, and sun block. Also, a light water proof jacket and pants should be carried at all times as we are trekking in the mountains and therefore the weather can sometimes change drastically. A warm jacket is required in the month of September as the weather is much colder.
  • Qs. Will torches be available at the camp.
    Ans. Yes, each tent will be equipped with a torch.
  • Qs. Can the plan for the activities be cancelled/ terminated due to bad weather?
    Ans. The weather in Ladakh is very temperamental. All activities, excursions and extensions will be subject to weather conditions. The Activity or excursion specialist at the camp will monitor and advise on the same.
  • Qs. What fitness level should one have for the different activities in Ladakh?
    Ans. If you have heart and lung conditions or a walking disability, you should refrain from participating in strenuous activities and must get permission from your doctors to travel to Ladakh.
