The Extensions

  • Qs. What are the amenities provided in the car/vehicle during the journey?
    Ans. For long haul drives, the vehicles will be equipped with water, non alcoholic beverages, savouries, a small oxygen cylinder, an emergency medical kit and wet wipes.
  • Qs. Will we have a guide accompanying us during our extensions?
    Ans. Yes, guides are available with the extensions.
  • Qs. Will there be medical facilities/ first aid kits provided?
    Ans. Yes, we have first aid kits in all our vehicles and also at the camp.
  • Qs. What are the driving times involved for the extensions?
    Ans. On an average the driving time will be between 3-6 hours depending on the extension taken.
  • Qs. What about the toilets / washroom facilities during our drive to/from our camp and on the extensions?
    Ans. Toilet facilities en-route are limited. A make shift canvas enclosure will be made available as comfort stops.
  • Qs. Are the roads winding and dangerous?
    Ans. Some of the best roads in the country are in Ladakh. Some of the extensions will lead us through rough terrain, but it’s safe.
  • Qs. What are the tents like during our extension stays?
    Ans. VAUDE 3P tents, with a larger design and a squared off profile offering spacious room for 2 pax, will be provided.
  • Qs. What cuisines will be provided at these extensions?
    Ans. Guests will be served continental, Tibetan and Indian cuisine on the extensions.
  • Qs. If the weather is bad will the extension trip be canceled? If so, what about the cancellation policy?
    Ans. Should a pre booked extension trip be cancelled due to bad weather conditions, being force majeure, there will be no refund, as arrangements are made in advance. We recommend that you take personal insurance coverage to cover any such unforeseen loss.
  • Qs. Are the locals friendly? How should one address them?
    Ans. The people of Ladakh are very friendly. The magic word to learn and use here is “JULEY” which means Hi/ Hello, Bye, Thanks, and Welcome.
  • Qs. Is there a dress code for the visits to the Monasteries?
    Ans. Casuals with half / full sleeves shirts / blouses and full length pants / long skirts are advised.
  • Qs. What about taking pictures?
    Ans. It is polite to take permission before taking photographs unless at a great distance.
  • Qs. Is it rude taking photos of monks at monasteries?
    Ans. No, most of the time they don’t mind people taking their pictures, unless they are at prayers or meditating. Some monasteries don’t allow photography inside their main temple. Please adhere to the rules at the monasteries.
  • Qs. Is it safe to drink water from the streams?
    Ans. No, it is advisable not to drink water from the streams or lakes.
  • Qs. Is it possible to get de-hydrated at this height?
    Ans. Yes, because the sun is very strong here at this altitude, it is recommended to drink at least 3 litres of water a day. Especially while participating in outdoor activities.
  • Qs. Are hot water bottles, sleeping bags provided for during the extensions or should one carry our own personal sleeping bags?
    Ans. Yes, the tents will be equipped with sleeping mattresses, sleeping bags, hot water bottles and flash lights.
